Hanoi Unviversity develops bilateral cooperation with partners from South Korea
HANU – On the morning of December 5th 2018, President Nguyen Van Trao, Heads of the International Office, Korean Studies Department received and worked with President Kwon MinHee and delegation of Yeonsung University, South Korea.
At the meeting, President Nguyen Van Trao expressed his pleasure to welcome Yeonsung University delegation to visit Hanoi University, sharing an overview of Hanoi University with its strengths and recent development in foreign language training, foreign language studies as well as joint programmes with international partners. According to President Nguyen Van Trao, the university always ready to support and provide favourable conditions for HANU students to study abroad as well as international students from other countries to study at the university.
The two sides exchanged openly and wished to continue expanding the cooperation opportunities, committing to establish specific action plans to promote the potentials and strengths of both sides and implement of collaborative programmes that offer learning opportunities for students and lecturers of the two universities.
Yeonsung University is located in Anyang City in Gyeonggi Province of South Korea, with 31 training departments. Over the past 40 years, the university has trained more than 70,000 graduates and by 2020, it aims to become an international university and one of the top five universities in South Korea. The number of foreign students currently enrolled in the school is more than 500 students. The university offers various programmes in Korean cultural experience, international exchange, and regular activities to help domestic and foreign students understand each other and improve their foreign language proficiency at the same time.
In the afternoon of December 5, President Nguyen Van Trao received Mr Kim Dohjong, Vice Chancellor of Myongji Private University. With an aim to promote the cooperation and the implementation of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides, according to President Nguyen Van Trao, “With the increasing number of Korean students studying at Hanoi University, we hope that the two universities can maintain our long-term cooperation and attract more exchange students each year ”.
As proposed by President Nguyen Van Trao, in the upcoming time, the two universities will continue to implement cultural exchange activities, participate in joint research projects and lecturer exchange programmes. Furthermore, both institutions look forward to implementing joint training programmes in the form of 1+3, 2+2, or 3+1. Thus, students of two schools would have more opportunities to study abroad, enriching the bilateral cooperation between the two universities.
Vice Chancellor Kim Dohjong expressed his agreement with the suggestions of President Nguyen Van Trao, and also informed about the learning situation of Vietnamese students at Myongji University. “Vietnamese students demonstrate high performance in their learning compared to other international students. This is reflected in their academic results as well as the number and level of scholarships of Vietnamese students have received. We are very pleased with these results and hope that there will be more specific cooperation and development programmes in the future, committing to maintain all signed activities between the two universities”.
Myongji Private University was founded in 1948 with two main campuses: the Social Sciences and Humanities Branch (Seoul) and the Natural Science Branch (Yongjin). Myongji’s training system consists of 9 member schools with more than 15,000 students. The school offers many training programmes for students with 45 different faculties and majors. Besides, the university also has 47 master’s majors, 45 majors for doctoral degrees, 20 majors for master’s and doctoral training programs with more than 1,900 graduate students studying at School
